This is a collaborative work with Soryu-gama, a kiln that specializes in ‘kyoyaku seiji’*. The pottery asked us if we could find a way of recycling the separated pieces from a plate whose bottom had been cut off by mistake during the production process. They were interested to see if we could find a way of combining reject pottery pieces with our bamboo craftwork. This item was completed after three years of trial and error.
*‘Kyoyaku seiji’ refers to celadon, a bluish tinted porcelain glaze used in Kyoto-style pottery.
